The wines are crafted by Passione Natura; a sustainable winery located in Italy’s largest national park, where focus on the entire winemaking process, from vineyard management through to creation of each tailor-made vinification ensures complete traceability of every bottle of Etiko produced. The winery utilizes its in-depth understanding of Abruzzo, its microclimates and traditional cultivation systems to restore abandoned vineyards and implement organic and biodynamic viticultural practices, which means that in choosing Etiko you are not just choosing a sustainable, organic wine, but also choosing a wine that makes a positive impact on this remarkable region socially, environmentally and economically.

Variety: 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

Soil: Mostly sandy, and containing stone and a little clay
ABV: 13%
Vinification: Spontaneous fermentation in small stainless-steel tanks with indigenous yeasts for approximately two weeks highlights the Abruzzo character. Four months aging in steel follows to allow the character to develop without the influence of oak.
Tasting Notes: A clean, expressive wine that emphasizes fruit and terroir. Fresh and aromatically vibrant, the aromas are reminiscent of red fruit and sour black cherries with hints of wild berries. The wine displays great structure and concentration with fine tannins and a dusty, dried-plum profile layered with cocoa and coffee.
Pairing Suggestion: As a native Italian wine, it is a perfect match to a variety of Italian cuisine, particularly tomato-based dishes, pizza, hard cheeses, and mushrooms. The bold, robust characteristics compliment grilled meats and meat-based stews, and balances well with spicy Mexican and Indian flavors.
